BrainTrip ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Selina Fuchs. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the BrainTrip mobile app.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name (to create your account)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Password (encrypted via Supabase Auth — we never see your raw password)
Trip & Activity Data
- Cities you search and explore
- Trivia scores and quiz history
- Saved itineraries and passport stamps
- Scanned landmarks and photos you take in the app (stored locally on your device)
Optional Data
- Location: Only if you enable Travel Notifications. Used to detect arrival in major cities. Never shared with third parties.
- Photos: Only when you choose to scan a landmark or upload a profile picture.
- Calendar: Only when you add itinerary stops to your calendar.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
- PostHog: We collect anonymized usage analytics (screens viewed, features used, quiz completions) to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog beyond your user ID.
- Sentry: We collect crash reports and performance data to identify and fix bugs. Crash reports may include device model, OS version, and app state at the time of the error. No personal content (messages, photos, etc.) is included.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Advertising identifiers (no IDFA)
- Browsing history outside the app
- Contacts, microphone, or health data
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the BrainTrip experience
- To generate personalized trivia and itineraries via the Anthropic Claude API
- To send opt-in travel notifications when you arrive in a new city
- To respond to support requests
Third-Party Services
We use the following services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Supabase (authentication and data storage)
- Anthropic Claude API (AI-powered trivia, itineraries, landmark identification)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
- PostHog (anonymized usage analytics)
- Sentry (crash reporting and performance monitoring)
- Expo / React Native (app infrastructure and over-the-air updates)
We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
Your Rights
You can:
- Update your profile from Settings
- Delete your account and all associated data directly from Settings in the app, or by contacting support@braintrip.dev
- Disable travel notifications and location access from Settings
- Export your trip data on request
Children
BrainTrip is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email.
